How automation can deliver sustainable solar project O&M in an uncertain environment

It can feel that uncertainty is the only constant in 2022 and there is no doubt that supply chains, labor markets, and weather patterns remain severely disrupted. Reducing the number of variables involved in carrying out effective operations and maintenance (O&M) on PV projects can be a strategy to tackle this uncertainty.

The automation of solar asset O&M is one way in which certainty can be delivered and there are numerous windfalls for PV project owners in doing so. These include a dramatic decline in the amount of water consumed on site, significantly reduced labor and organizational costs, and the overcoming of logistical challenges in servicing remote sites.

Given these benefits, the automation of solar park O&M can deliver significant sustainability benefits for project owners. And optimizing park output, getting the most out of an installed system, itself aligns with sustainable values and business practices.

There are also emerging additional benefits from having intelligent devices 24/7 on site at a solar project. With robotic cleaners “up close and personal” with PV modules each day, the information they can collect can allow for proactive maintenance regimes to be put in place – to address reliability issues before they become a problem.

In this pv magazine Webinar, learn about the challenges facing O&M provision in 2022 and the role automation can play in delivering the sustainable operation of existing and new PV assets. Leading robotic cleaner supplier Ecoppia will draw on eight years of experience in supplying its robots to projects during the webinar including case studies where robotic cleaning has been deployed. Independent engineers Everoze will also join the webinar and share experience of pre-construction soiling assessment and ongoing soiling monitoring across a host of marketplaces in Europe, North Africa and the Middle East.

The webinar will also feature the launch of a first-of-its kind industry survey into automation and PV O&M practices. By participating in the survey and webinar you can be a part of shaping sustainable solar asset management practices today and into the future.
